Laptop Upcycle is Looking for Summer Interns

Are you a High School student looking for a Summer project in town? Consider joining the Laptop Upcycle team on our continuing project to source and give laptops to students who need them in our public schools.

We are looking for volunteers to make a difference in four areas:

• Streamline and enhance our inventory management system. Here you will help us accept, test and prepare laptops for delivery to our clients. You’ll learn various operating systems and have fun doing it.
• Build a technical support and laptop repair team to work on and repair laptops. We will provide training and you will work with your fellow volunteers to learn how to diagnose and repair laptops. You’ll build mad technical skilz, and help others in the process.
• Social media, Public Relations, and Marketing. We are looking for help improving our messaging to get the work out about Laptop Upcycle, building our donations, and getting laptops (and free wifi) to more of those who need them. You’ll also explore expanding our model beyond Montclair.
• Partnerships and relationship building. You’ll help us work with other nonprofits and businesses to help us improve our outreach.

Since we’re a nonprofit and we are working with limited resources, we are not able to pay you for these positions, but we do offer:

• Full documented community service hours. We will keep track and sign your forms.

• Training and support
• Access to the HackNCraftNJ technical lab over the Summer

Laptop Upcycle is a Montclair, NJ based division of HackNCraftNJ, Inc. committed to obtaining, refreshing, and distributing technology to students who need the tools to succeed in school. We believe all public school students should have access to the technology and hardware they need to learn regardless of their family's income level. Laptop Upcycle's mission is to eliminate technology impediments as a part of the achievement gap.
