Volunteers are Welcome!
Laptop Upcycle is 100% volunteer run and managed. We love what we do and are always looking for others who share our passion. In addition to roles described below, we are seeking board members to join us as we craft changes to our Mission and provide oversight and support for Volunteers in the lab.
Join us as we restart our lab and adapt to the changing environment in support of students in our schools. We are looking for the following roles in our lab, but don't worry, we won't pigeon hole you. If you want to do more than one, we're down with that.
- Stock Manager; check in and triage donated laptops. Manage the queues as donated laptops follow their path in the lab from received through processing and testing until they are ready for distribution. You'll also work with the "Get Team" that schedules and meets students when they get their new laptop.
- Partnership Liaison; set mission, priorities, and scheduling with relationships we have pending. We have some secrets for now, but in this role you can help us build some important activities in the lab. Here's a tip, repair and reuse is your jam. As with all of these roles, you'll recruit other volunteers to assist and spread our network.
- Tech lead; set up systems and processes in support of the lab work and provide resources to the repair techs who do the laptop work. This person might also manage all the Repair Techs. Are you good at herding cats?
- Repair Techs, multiple volunteers to do the work on laptops. Work can be done in the lab or laptops can be checked out to be worked on remotely and then returned to stock. You have tech skilz and want to show them off?
- Communications and recruitment lead; tell our story, rework our web site and social media feeds, spruce up the mailing list, and find new volunteers to build our future.
