New Year 2026

Greetings and Happy New Year from the Board of Laptop Upcycle!

This past year was one of transitions and change for many. We at Laptop Upcycle have also experienced challenges in support of our mission. With static trends in both equipment donations and distributions, we spent a portion of 2025 looking at ways to invigorate equipment channels and better reach students. 

Our refurbishment lab is currently paused. We appreciate the past contributions of the refurb team and the role they played in supporting our mission.

Thankfully, we have a vibrant and motivated Board of Directors who remain strongly committed to our mission of providing and supporting the students of Montclair and our neighboring northern NJ communities with their technology needs.

The current lab operations pause will continue through the first quarter of 2026 while we evaluate and refine our business model. Key to this effort will be feedback from you; our donors, volunteers, partners, and laptop recipients. We plan on sharing a brief survey in the coming weeks to gather your specific feedback, and will work with all of our stake holders to plan Laptop Upcycle's next steps. 

Finally, we thank you for your past and continued support. We could not have delivered over 2100 laptops to students in need, supported over 8000 hours of in lab education and lab time, and saved over 14,000 pounds of e-waste from landfills without your help. 

With your input, we hope to build the next chapter of Laptop Upcycle in 2026!
